Windows 10 image creation - Unknown partition
A partition and disk imaging/cloning program
Brought to you by:

I was able to create and restore windows 10 images with Clonezilla after my upgrade from windows 7 back in August.
Today I tried to create a new image as I've installed some new software and it won't recognize one of the HD partitions.
Restored the August partition without a problem and run all updates again. Same issue to create the image.
Looking with gparted it also shows an unknown partition as windows reserved.
Did a fresh install on a crashbox and again, same issue when trying to clonezilla it.
Are there any known issue with any of the MS updates? What can I provide that can help troubleshoot this issue.
Regards,
Aloisio
Please enter Clonezilla live command line prompt, then run:
1. sudo -i
2. parted -s /dev/sda print
3. cat /proc/partitions
4. blkid
Then post the results of (2)-(4).
Thanks.
Steven.
First of all thank you for your reply.
As requested, I've run the above commands and results are in the screenshot attached.
Additional info:
When booting getting the message on attached file - clone boot.
When running it getting the message on attached file - clone error.
This looks like Linux kernel does not detect your hardware very well.
Did you try Clonezilla live 2.4.2-61 or 20151012-wily?

Steven.
Any ideas?
Stoppping monitoring the ticket. Contact me if I can assist with anything.
I was traveling last week, sorry for the late.
For the "Microsoft reserved partition" it's quite normal. Clonezilla will use dd to save the partition. It still will work. Does clonezilla stop to save the next partitoin?
Steven.
Nope. Program terminates as per screen attached above: Clone Error.
So which version of Clonezilla live did you use?
Where did you put your image? On network storage? Or?
Steven.
Download the latest version after 1st time gave me errors. Burned to a CD and booted from it: 2.4.2-32.
The latest stable Clonezilla live is 2.4.2-61 or 20151012-wily:
http://clonezilla.org/downloads.php
Please give one of them a try.
BTW, I meant where did you put your image, i.e. how did you mount /home/partimag? On a NFS server? SSHFS server? CIFS server? Or local disk?
Steven.
I'll download the above version and test it.
If by /home/partimag you mean where I saved the image files, I've tried to save to a external USB and to my CIF on my FreeNAS with same results.
More to come after download/test.
Update: Successfully created windows 10 image with 2.4.2-61.
Thanks Steven for all help!
Cool! Thanks for your feedback.
Steven.
Is BitLocker an obstacle when trying to do this? Maybe we could do a tutorial for Winbuzzer?

Greetings, I have had an issue attempting to clone a Windows 10 OS. After the Creators Edition. Would it be possible you can explain which opition or command line I should execute to do so. I have used the Alternative: 20170626-zesty and the Stable: 2.5.1-16 editions without success. Additionally, since Microsoft is going towards more of GPT - Will the futrue additions address these kinds of concerns.
Thank you,
@hartebeest,
Please show the error messages or describe more about the probem you have encountered so that it's easier for us to understand. Thanks.
