I used Clonezilla to copy an ailing HD (190GB) and managed to back up all but about 1% (which I assume was corrupted). I have manged to copy the image back to the new replacement HD and now am trying to restore the files back to their original format. I am not at all techy and my PC guys (who is windows through and through said It can't be done). Is he right or can you tell me blow-blow how to get these back to a format I can work with some of the stuff is probably junk but as you can appreaciate 190 GB of data some is quite valuable and irreplaceable. I would pay some one if they can either make me video or talk me through it if that's possible. I realize it can't be done remotely as not in Windows environment . Please help if you can or tell me if I am wasting my time.
I have on my PC (which runs windows XP) a folder called 2011-02-24-10-img which has lots of files in it.
sda1.ntfs-ptcl-img.gz (AA file) sda1.ntfs-ptcl-img.gz (AI file) , sda1-nfts-ptcl-img.gz (VLC media file) sda1.nfts-ptcl-img.gz ( Answer Wizard File),sda1-ntfs-ptcl-img.gz (Win Rar File),sda1-ntfs-ptcl-img.gz (data base file),sda1-ntfs-ptcl-img.gz (DV Movie),sda1-ntfs-ptcl-img.gz ab - du (91 files)
In addition there is sda-chs.sf,sda-hidden-data-after-mbr,sda-mbr,sta-pt-parted,sda-pt.sf
It's possible you can use this method to manually restore that:
http://drbl.sourceforge.net/faq/fine-print.php?path=./2_System/68_manually_partclone_restore.faq#68_manually_partclone_restore.faq
//NOTE// Please backup the image dir to another disk before you use the commands. Just in case.
Steven.
Tried this method as did my IT guy who to be fair is pretty much Windows through and through but neither of us could get this to work (or in my case understand this).
I will pay someone (not much please) to produce me a video or look at my files remotely some how. Unfortunately its 190GB so can't email them but open to other options I need to know what is missing even if I can reinstate it.
