[Clonezilla-live] cloning an existing disk that is not inside a system

I have a couple of older PCs, one is ancient Windows XP (don't laugh!), 
that I want to clone and virtualize for posterity.    Since they are no 
longer in their physical systems, I wonder if this is possible with 
CloneZilla or if I would need to create a disk image differently to 
attach to a new VM.
