[Clonezilla-live] Installing GParted-Clonezilla-LiveCD on USB-harddrive

Dear all, 

is there an HOWTO or some hints on how to install the 
GParted-Clonezilla-LiveCD to an USB-harddrive (not: stick)?

I'm thinking of a setup like this:

* Boot from partition 1 (i.e. /dev/sdb1) of the USB-harddrive, 
  which holds the Linux system and all the Clonezilla/GParted stuff.

* Restore and save your disk-images to partition 2 (i.e. /dev/sdb2)
  of the USB-harddrive.

I tried the mentioned steps for USB sticks, without any success.
So my question is: Anyone did something like this?
