Steven, Thanks for your suggestion, but I still couldn't make it work. I restored the image using both dd and sfdisk. After that, I rebooted = the computer and, on the first try, the operating system (Windows) tried to boot, but then and without notice, the computer reset. On the second and subsequent tries, it appeared a screen saying that Windows couldn't load = on a previous attempt and it prompted me to select a mode to boot (safe, = net, normal, etc.); if I selected Safe Mode, it started booting up but then = reset again. This is the configuration of the computers (disk geometries as reported = by FDISK): SOURCE COMPUTER Disk: 80000/16/63 (CHS) LBA Partitions: - hda1: primary, bootable, NTFS, WinXP, cyls. 1-40635 - hda2: primary, NTFS, empty, cyls. 40636-60636 DESTINATION COMPUTER Disk: 77545/16/63 (CHS) LBA Notice that even though the size of the destination disk is slightly = smaller than the source one, the partitions should fit in the destination disk. I would appreciate if somebody could give a hint on what to try next.
