OK, in this case, that's true.
Does your client access network? If so, maybe you can put the 
customization script on http, tftp or ftp server, and use:
ocs_prerun="wget http://.../myscript"
ocs_prerun1="bash PATH_TO_SCRIPT/myscript"
in the boot parameters.

Yes, to rebuild the filesystem.squashfs is another choice. You can refer
