Hi, I have an FC9 server with 1 SATA disc of 160 GB and 24 GB of data. I have an exactly same server as backup server. We rsync `data` folders of the main server to the backup server. It has been decide to image the HDD of the main server to the backup server once per month to account for any OS level changes which was not rsynced. When I create an image of the main server and restore on the backup server, I will have a problem with the network values. The IP address will have to be manually changed to prevernt DUPLICATE IP in the lan. The MAC address will have to be changed to match the MAC address of the backup server's lan card. And the host name will have to be changed too. I am sure many people must have tried this and have had to change these network properties manually. Is there any short-cut to avoid manually making these changes ? I guess not, but I still thought of asking. You never know. There are 100s of smart people out there who do 100s of things the smarter was :) Do let me know your thoughts. Thx Vai |
