THANKS A LOT guys for your help!!! :-) > Which version of Clonezilla live did you use ? I used (at simple mode) a previous clonezilla version (before some time, latest stable at that time) to save the image, and the currently last stable live cd version to restore it (from sf.net v.1.2.2-14). (MD5 checked both and cds seems to be OK). > Is your /boot on ext4 file system ? Yes. My Ubuntu Jaunty (ext4) is at my first primary partition on the first disk (where the mbr is). I saved the image on the first primary partition, on the second disk (fat32 formated with gparted). At the first disk, I also have a second primary partition (with windows, ntfs formated), and an extented partition with 1 logical ntfs formated and the swap (logical) partition. > This is a harmless bug, please check: > http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=513216 Indeed, a google search reveals it on the first place, but I asked for help because of the grub restoration problem. :-) > 1. edit fstab to reflect current device file name > 2. install GRUB I reinstalled grub from ubuntu live cd (I've done it before, with ubuntu jaunty, which was ext3 formatted), and although it indicated that everything went OK grub was still messed at boot time and was trying to read from floppy. However, I didn't edited fstab before! :-( THANKS AGAIN for your help!!! :-) |
