| Hi! :-) Some time ago, I made an image for my ubuntu jaunty partition (ext4 formated), with clonezilla live cd. Recently, after downloading the latest clonezilla version, I restored the image and after restoring the files, I received this error at grub restoration phase: Running: grub-install-no-floppy-root-directory=/tmp/hd_img.QiFQFv /dev/sda grub-probe: error: Cannot open '/boot/grub/devise_map' /usr/sbin/grub-install: line 374: [: =: unary operator expected Then the restoration just stopped, so after some time I pressed ctrl-alt-del and I restarted. My system became non-bootable (since grub was erratic), so I could only boot windows, booting from floppy (with gag). The usual way for restoring grub from ubuntu live cd not worked, so I made a fresh install (that corrected MBR) and I restored my image with clonezilla (at expert mode) unchecking (deselecting) the "Reinstall grub" option. OK! I'm new to Linux, so I need your help! :-) Everything seems to be OK now, but what went wrong? Thanks!!! :-) Giorgos. |
