Well, actually that's what shown by partimage which is used to save partition to image, however, clonezilla will pipe that to another partimage to write it to the partition directly. From what you have done is disk to disk, as I mentioned, no image will be saved. The question now is, the restored disk sdb should contain the same files as sda, isn't it ?
