The HP DL360GS server uses the Broadcom NetExtreme II drive(bnx2 module). Clonezilla 1.22-26 does not allow the module to load saying it is having a problem with the firmware ( cannot load firmware file) with an error like probe of <PCI device address> failed with error -2. However, If I boot an Ubuntu Server 9.0.4, the bnx2 module loads without issue. It does not try to load the firmware. Any thoughts? I don't think so. The Ubuntu Server is just a boot-up before the disk configuration. I'll need to look at this, but first impress is not. I would not expect that from the Server edition, but I could be wrong. Steve -----Original Message----- From: Kevin W. Yes. The problem is now stable or testing Clonezilla live uses "free" software. That firmware is classified as "non-free" in Debian. Therefore it does not included. You can try Ubuntu-based Clonezilla live (20090812-jaunty), it comes with some of non-free firmware. Steven. I did not know that. I thought all testing versions were the pre-live editions and did not include non-free firmware. Why not include them in the live editions? I am not convinced this is the root of the issue, but I would love to be wrong. I don't know why Ubuntu Server works since I don't recall non-free/GPL firmare being included. I'll let you know the results. Are there instructions on how to include a new/revised kernel with a clonezilla-live version? Thanks. Actually the firmwares are included in the package "linux-image" on Ubuntu. E.g. you can run this command on your Ubuntu (say 9.04): dpkg -L linux-image-`uname -r` | grep -F "/lib/firmware" You will see a lot. Steven. Steve Poe wrote: > I did not know that.
