| Hi All, Using the live CD I want to do a disk to disk clone. Both disks are connected via USB-IDE adapters (bridges). Will the live CD do this? I did not see the drives when I tried. Ta -Al |

| It should be OK for Clonezilla live CD version. It's recommended to plug USB disks before Cloneizlla live enter main menu. When you do not see it, please: 1. Boot clonezilla live, and before the main menu of Clonezilla starts, plug USB disks . 2. Enter command line prompt 3. /opt/drbl/sbin/ocs-live-bug-report Then post the contents of created file. Normally you will see something like: http://clonezilla.org/clonezilla-live/doc/fine-print.php?path=./03_Disk_to_disk_clone/10-clone-finishes.doc#10-clone-finishes.doc The grub will be reinstall again. And you should be able to boot the restored disk. If you do not want grub to be install again, enter Expert mode, and uncheck "-g auto". | I have successfully done what you describe on more than one occasion. I do have a suggestion: I have noticed that some IDE drives do not work with these USB-IDE adapters if they are jumpered for "Cable Select." This is usually fixed by temporarily using the "Master" jumper setting. Al Grant wrote: > Hi All, > > > > Using the live CD I want to do a disk to disk clone. And by the way, these are very inexpensive and handy devices to have if
you are the sort of person that juggles hardware around. Some of them
are just cables that will connect to any full or laptop sized IDE or
SATA drive and you can even get VMware guests (and probably virtualbox)
to connect to them if you need to access a format you can't read
natively. (And to have some relevance here, they are obviously handy for
clonezilla too).
