Hi!
I have quite suprising problem with Clonezilla (it concern 3.1.0-22-amd64 and 2.8.1.-12-amd64 versions for sure and perhaps some other). When running Clonezilla, I have normal initial screen with menu with selecting modes. But next strange "dashes" appear on the screen (in the screens where I would normally expect blue clonezilla menus). My computer is based on amd 5700g without external graphic card (only APU).
Have you ever seen anything like this? By what can it be caused? At first glance I though that my memory has some technical problems but passmark memtest after 10h didn't detect anything.
Can it be caused by some incompatibility problem in linux kernel? Can it be easily workarounded?
Thanks for help.

Quite likely it's related to Linux kernel/hardware support issue.
Have you tried Ubuntu-based Clonezilla live? e.g., 20230426-lunar or even 20230629-mantic? https://clonezilla.org/downloads.php

I've just checked with clonezilla-live-20230426-lunar-amd64 and clonezilla-live-20230629-lunar-amd64 and clonezilla-live-20230629-mantic-amd64. It's still the same.

Mm... Or maybe you can try Clonezilla live 3.1.1-7, which comes with newer Linux kernel 6.3.11.
If the issue still remains, then you might have to wait for newer Linux kernel to support your hardware.

I've got a second pair of memory modules in my hands and just in case I've checked if it's the same with other memory. And guess... yeah it's the same. Thus it's definitely not memory issue.
However I was wondering about one thing. How those old vga text modes are used? Directly or through some bios procedures? Is that possible that it's some hidden bios problem? (bios update doesn't help).

FWIW, with an AMD 5600G I also had screen corruption (after hitting the default Clonezilla Live), but I had success with the "Other" modes and selection the 1024x768 flavor.

No idea. Maybe you can check your BIOS manual to see if anything you can tune.

I still have problems. However when i select large fonts & copy to ram when running then I can use clonezilla without problems.
Great. Thanks for your feedback.
