Can one do a remote install or image a disk on a remote computer via vpn that is halfway around the world?
That is, can one do a wakeup on lan and use the computers pxe to image or restore the saved image at my
computer?
Would like to do remote images/installs when computer isn't on of a families computer in another country
and do remote support of families computers
2). deduplication. Is it being done?
3). image a virtual machine and restore it?
Maybe... the issue might be on the wake-on-LAN. The packets have to be sent across router. You need to find a way for that.
The rest is about PXE booting.
However, this is not easy. If one part goes wrong, you can not continue.
It's easier to use something like IPMI to do such remote control... Of couse it's mor expensive.
