How do you clone NVMe to NVMe?

Hi All,

How do I clone NVMe to NVMe when the motherboard only has one NVMe slot? I have not found any USB3 carriers for NVMe drives? Is there any other kind of adapter that would work?

And will Clone Zilla even clone to an NVMe drive?

Should you have enough USB storage available you could also try the disk-to-image option, instead of disk-to-disk directly. So, create an image from the original NVMe device to an image located on USB storage. Then replace the original NVMe device with the second and restore the image from the USB storage to it. Or use a network share to temporarily store the image on, if available.

You necroposted this thread from 2018, but that's OK. EDIT: Oh, I see you are a spam account.

In case people are unaware, M.2 NVMe is just a different form-factor of PCI Express.

This means that if you have motherboard that has a spare PCI Express slot, you install a very cheap adapter that only cost a few dollars.

Simply search for "NVMe PCIe adapter". You should be able to find one for less than $5. It's just a simple adapter, there's no electronics needed.
