I've taken an image of my system that consists of three root partitions, since it is a multi-boot system:I'd like now to restore only one of those root partitions to a new device, can I do this?
I reckon the file I'm after is named "sdb6.ext4-ptcl-img.gz.aa",but when trying to restore that single file,Clonezilla actually prompts me to restore the entire image containing three files like that.
Is there a straightforward way to pick only that image to restore,or I will be better off making a new image of that single partition only?

I use normally 'Clonezilla restoreparts' from the complete image. In your case to a different, new formatted partition. Similar to 'Again - Restore to Different Partition' in the Clonezilla help.

I think this is what I tried to do,i.e. use "restoreparts" : but this only gave me the option to restore the entire image containing all three root partitions, not a just single partition from that image.
Maybe I did something wrong?

Use a newer version of clonezilla, e. g. clonezilla-live-2.1.2-20-i686-pae. Here can you choice a separate partition from entire disk image.
Or use 'diffpart.sh' from 'Again - Restore to Different Partition' in the Clonezilla help. Here can you choice a separate partition too and all the other steps.

Does it have to be clonezilla-live-2.1.2-20-i686-pae ?
Since I have a 64 bit processor,I've tried the latest stable releases: clonezilla-live-2.1.2-43-amd64.iso
and clonezilla-live-20130819-raring-amd64.iso
which still provided me with the only option to restore an entire image when using "restoreparts":should I now try a testing release?

Does a pae version of Clonezilla run OK on a 64 bit computer?
I've tried a handful of the latest 64 bit versions and none of them has the option to restore a separate partition picked out of a full disk image, unless it's hidden somewhere in the menu and I haven't been able to find it.

"Does a pae version of Clonezilla run OK on a 64 bit computer?" -> Yes.
"none of them has the option to restore a separate partition from picked out of a full disk image," -> None?
Basically the i686-pae and amd64 have the same clonezilla program. Therefore it should not have any difference about this.
Did you save the image by "savedisk"? Then you try "restoreparts" to restore one of the partition images to your partition?
Please let us know your steps in details, so it's easier to know why it failed there.
Thanks.
Steven.

Yes,it's been a while but as far as I can remember I did save the image with savedisk and then tried to restore one partition from that image using restoreparts, and it always tried to restore the entire image instead of that single partition-actually,I could not find that option anywhere in the menu.
I'll try again and post the details here-thanks.
