    Hey all,

I'm installing a new hard drive in a laptop for a friend. It's a newer Toshiba Satellite with a 640gb drive that I want to clone to a brand new 750gb drive. The current drive is dying I think, but the computer will still boot up and function, albeit VERY slowly (hence the wish to install the new drive).

Just went to do the clone operation using a burned copy of the latest Stable i586 Clonezilla release and every time I try, the clone fails with the error: "failed to find this partition: /dev/sdb1" and then similar errors for sdb2 and sdb4. There are 3 partitions on sda, which correspond to the error messages on sdb, but I don't understand the errors...of course it can't find them on sdb, that's the TARGET drive that THOSE partitions are supposed to be created on...?

I've tried twice now and double-checked the settings both times, all are supposedly fine....? Any help with what's going on and how to get things working again...?

    Cheers and thanks!

Any help on this issue yet? I'm coming up with the same thing. I've ran it with several different 500GB Dell Optiplex 7010 drives, cloning to a blank 500GB, and the same error comes up everytime.

Tried building the 'master clone' from scratch manually as well, installing Windows and the software we'll need on it to make sure there's only the main partition and the tiny 100mb system partition - Same issues.

Same problem here, trying to clone a 1TB drive with 2 partitions to an empty 2 TB drive.

Same here . Ended up using an older version of Clonezilla to complete the task. Did not have time to research which version broke this function.

I was doing a device-to-device clone from an internal drive to a usb connected SSD device.

    Dear all,
If the the disk you want to clone is GPT format, yes, there was an issue about cloning that. It should have been fixed in Clonezilla live
    20150731-wily
    20150731-vivid
    or
    2.4.2-29
    Please give them a try.
    You can find them on
    http://clonezilla.org/downloads.php
    Thanks.

    Steven.
