I am very new at this. I have cloned hard drive to hard drive many times. I am trying to clone a 500 gb HDD to 256 GB HDD. I used Gparted to shrink the system partition and the recovery partition. When I try to clone partition to local partition my only choices are the same HDD or the source. What am I doing wrong?
First, larger disk to smaller one cloning never works fine in Clonezilla. This is because Clonezilla is the so-called block-based utility, not file-based one.
It might work if you enter expert mode, then choose the option "-k1" and "-icds".
Use at your own risk. Backup important data before you use Clonezilla.
