How about give testing or alternative Clonezilla live a try ?
It comes with newer partclone, which has some improvements about some file systems.
An alternative is to enter expert mode, and choose to use the option "-q" instead of "-q2".

Also, make sure the hardware there is flawless. First of all, you can run memtest to test your RAM.

Please let us know the results there.

      Steven.

I am sorry Steven; I must have done something stupid. I repeated with same version in beginner mode and it's now 3:45' it is working.

I will make the restore tomorrow; can I simply replace the HDDs? The new one is new :) according to Samsung it may need to be formated (whatever this means). Please your advice. Thanks

(Once done I may have a surprise for you)

      configuration

verbatim<->USB<->lap with old then new hdd

      Guy
