    Hello!

I used Clonezilla a few times already in the past years and never ran into any problems. I find it easy to use and reliable so far, so thanks by the way for making this useful free project!

However now I have the first time ever a problem and desperately need help. I made backup of my system partition on my laptop (NTFS filesystem running Windows Vista 64 Bit). The partition is 50 GB big and was copied by Clonezilla on a USB drive. One partition was extra prepared for this with a size of 52 GB and formated to Ext3 filesystem.

The backup was fast and smooth as always and reported no errors. However now I need to restore the image and Clonezilla reports that the restoring process fails and the the reason might be a corrupt image.
However I am not so sure if that is the case, the image is just a few days old, the USB drive is new and also I get the error right after I say "yes" the second time and not  during the restoring process.

Here two photos I took from that error:

I really really need this image being restored or at least some files from it, is there anything I could do?
I always use the beginners mode in Clonezilla, are there any options I could try from the expert mode? Or is there a way to open the image on a computer and this way at least recover some files?

    Thanks a lot and greetings!

    Schraubenzieher,

Could you please tell me which version of Clonezilla live are you using?
Is it's the latest stable one, i.e. 1.2.2-31?

BTW, could you please run this command:

    find /home/partimag/2009-10-23-20-img/ -print

    and post the results?

    Steven.

I am having a simalar problem. I have created an image three times, and each time i go to restore it, i get a hash check failure. I created the image with the options to create MD5, and SHA checksums. The md5 checksum fails every time, on the same file too. the IMAGENAME.aa file. The sha checksum usually passes. If i force it to restore the image despite check fail, sometimes partclone reports CRC fail, sometimes it restores, but the resultant system is unstable. I used an older, tried and true clonezilla, and the systems work fine :) Theres something glitched up with the newer clonezilla.

Where did you save the image?

Did you try to run memtest to make sure the RAM is flawless?

    Steven.
