I got an CNC machine with a dodgy PATA-HDD so I made an dd clone to another HDD which worked fine. But that HDD is already quite old so my plan was to replace it by an (larger) PATA-SSD because it's not that sensitive as an HDD.
Is it possible and how?

It's possible you can use Clonezilla to clone your PATA-HDD to PATA-SSD.
However, the OS you cloned must have the driver for the SSD device. Otherwise even Clonezilla clones the disk for you, but you won't be able to boot the restored OS.
//NOTE// Bakcup important data before you use Clonezilla. Just in case.
