It is great for saving an image but useless if I can not then restore them. I had a hard drive failure so I went and got a new hard drive. I am on a Windows 8 machine with UEFI, so I have images stored using the version of Clonezilla I downloaded in early December. I get errors I see in other posts, "unable to find the target partition /dev/sdb1", but none of the suggestions in there work. I go to command line and run "dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdb1 bs=512 count=1" and all I get is an error "failed to open /dev/sdb: permission denied". Why can't I just restore the image like I used to be able to do before UEFI and Windows 8? What do I need to do in order to get this to work? I have spent upwards of a fruitless weekend day trying to get this to work.

Don't forget the microsoft hidden partition(s).
Clonezilla doesn't know what you would like.
In your case take savedisk/restoredisk. All settings will be done.
Secure boot in the BIOS should be disabled before.
You can look for 'Any preliminary considerations' in
    http://sourceforge.net/p/clonezilla/discussion/Help/thread/91414a5a/
    (Unable to find target partition)
