I'm sorry for the repeat question, but I've searched the forums and can't find an option that works for me.
I am upgrading hard drives and was able to use Clonezilla to copy everything using device-device however upon boot, all I get is a blank screen with a cursor and am unable to boot.
I tried recovery console to fixmbr and chkdsk which didn't help...
I tried partclone.ntfsreloc -w /dev/sda (and sda1) and was given an error that it looks like an entire driver instead of a partition.
I'm at a bit of a loss here, any ideas?
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
I used Clonezilla 1.2.1-39 to clone a 40 GB IDE drive which is running Windows Server 2003 to a 1 TB SATA drive. The IDE drive has and still works fine. As far as I can tell, the cloning process worked fine, other than the booting issue of course.
I was able to get to the MS Recovery console using an OS CD where I ran fixmbr and chkdsk (where it found one error which was *hopefully* fixed by chkdsk /r) but I was still unable to boot.
So from there I tried partclone.ntfsreloc -w /deb/sda (I also tried sda1) the error as mentioned above said "it looks like this is an entire drive instead of a partition" but I could try using the force command to try to write (which I was unable to do).
I hope this helps, if I am missing something or more clarification is needed I will be happy to provide.
Many thanks in advance.

Could you give testing Clonezilla live 1.2.1-52 a try ?
There is an option "-e2" which might help.
BTW, if there is some diagnose (recovery) partition on your source disk, do not use "-k1" option when cloing.

If you do not use "-k1" option, you still can restore the image to larger disk. The difference is the target will have some unallocated space.
You can use some tool, e.g. Gparted live, to resize the partition.

Andy,
Could you please describe more about how you run Clonezilla live ? Especially the parameters you selected.
Did you use disk to disk or image to disk ? Did you use option "-k1" ? ...
Steven.

Sure, I will give the testing version a try and report back.
If I don't use -k1, will I still be able to use a larger drive?
Thanks.

Steven,
Thanks for your help, your suggestions worked great!

I also experienced this problem, but using the 1.2.1-53 ISO didn't seem to help the problem. Any suggestions?
