I have used clonezilla for cloning a bunch of computers, and have never before had any trouble with it, but today, savedisk hanged at 10% on this new HP Compaq6715s. I have tried to update and upgrade all on the server, and changing various options for drbl-ocs savedisk, including partimg instead of ntfsclone, tuning off hardwaresupport, not using compression and so on. The only thing that changes is where it hangs: its always while saving image, but percentage is different with different options. I wonder what makes it not work on this computer. Any hints anyone? Thanks :)

Maybe you'd better to boot into Windows in the source machine, then run
'chkdsk /f' (for M$ W2K), or 'chkdsk /p /r' (for M$ XP and others), follow its instruction. Then try to save it again.

Thank you for replying. OK, so I tried that, but still no luck. There is no /p for chkdsk btw, but i ran chkdsk /r, and I have also tried several of these computers. Its Vista on these machines, but that should be OK. It worked perfectly for my hp compaq 6715b (almost same model) with vista.

Extra info. Tried to look at differences between 6715s and 6715b, and there are minimal, and shouldnt make a difference for clonezilla. I also tried to move hd to an dell d520, and the disk then works perfectly. However I found norton ghost has a hang problem on the 6715s, unless -noide is turned on. Is there some way of making similar switch on clonezilla?

I have no idea what's -noide in ghost. I do not think there is similar param in clonezilla. However, maybe you can do the same thing by giving kernel parameter, like noapic acpi=off...
Did you try the failsafe mode in clonezilla live ?

No, clonezilla live I havent tried yet. Ill to that when I get to work. But I have found that this computer has a different network card, a broadcom netxtreme. So I talked to one of HPs linux resources, and he told me to make sure that I used the tg3 driver version 3.81c. This is included in latest drbl right? How do I make sure this driver is used when client boots? Am I on the wrong forum?

I have the same problem on a Compaq 6715b. When I try to create an image, it hangs. I tried to save the backup on an external USB harddrive and on a network share. It always hangs randomly, sometimes at 3%, sometimes at 87%.
Any suggestions?

Which clonezilla live are you using ?
Look like maybe it's hardware issue or kernel issue. You can try to use experimental or testing clonezilla live. Both of them come with newer kernel (2.6.24) than the stable clonezilla live.

I'm having the same problem using the latest clonezilla server.
Trying to save an Compaq 6715s image it always hangs randomly, sometimes at 0.60% sometimes at 0.92%.
I think it arises from the network card (infact I cannot ping it as soon as it hangs).
Any help ?

VecchieAbitudin,
You mean you use clonezilla 2.3.1-57 and drbl 1.9.1-26 to run a Clonezilla SE, and you have such a problem ? Did you have same problem before ? I mean the older version of clonezilla and drbl.
This random problem maybe is due to the hardware problem, as you mentioned, the NIC, or maybe memory... If anything new you find, please let us know. Thanks.

I'm using Drbl version is 2.3.1-26 (on Ubuntu server 8.04) and Clonezilla live latest version 1.2.0-25.
Where is the clonezilla 2.3.1-57 ? Where Can I download it ?

clonezilla 2.3.1-57 is in the stable branch now:
RPM:

DEB:
http://free.nchc.org.tw/drbl-core/pool/drbl/stable/
Or you can download that in the mirror site:
