We have cloned a vista business 32 bit drive onto a larger drive and put it into a new 64 bit machine. Now, when we boot into the new cloned drive it shows the "windows failed to start" message. If we choose either "Start system repair" or "start windows normally" it gets to the windows loading bar, loads for about 15 seconds, freezes for 5 seconds then restarts.
If we boot into any windows install CD (Tried vista business 32 and 7 ultimate 64), we get the same freeze and reboot at windows loading bar as above.
Any ideas as to what is going wrong?
Thanks,
Max.

MS windows won't boot if the destination machine is not the same hardware with original one.
Maybe you can try to install sysprep from MS before you clone it.

Well we got in contact with the machine's manufacturer and they took it away and identified the cause as a memory failure. Repaired the hardware and it now boots fine. Booted into safe mode, uninstalled a bunch of drivers, installed the network card and windows handled most of the rest. Our next challenge is upgrading it to 64 bit OS :)
