Hi, I've just discovered CloneZilla live and made an image of my root partition in Ubuntu for pending upgrade. My question..the image package also contains a file with details of my external partition, if I change the size of this partition will it mess up an eventual restore of my root partition? I'm a little bit out of my ground here and would really appreciate any help on this issue.

You can modify the partition table. However, remember to make sure the partition size must be larger than the original one.
The partition table is used when you choose to re-partition your target disk, if you choose not, it's useless.
Anyway, backup your important data before you restoring any image.

Sorry, I`m a little confused here. If the partition size (target) must be larger than the original one, and I don`t have enough space to make a full new partition for root, is my solution to first shrink root, then image, and then enlarge root so that target is larger than source? And how much bigger should the target partition be? Thanks for your patience.

Oops, I should say the target partition should be equal or larger than the source partition.
