I need to upgrade from an 80gb SSD to a 250gb SSD. I followed the clonezilla instructions and successfully booted from the clone (on the 250gb). But something went wrong. Windows Update is broken. I've run the MS tool to repair it and it said it fixed the registry - still doesn't work. The servers are running. I've manually stopped, deleted.. can't remember the file, and restarted. Nothing works.
I've also noticed that, though I have an admin account, I get the Permission dialog box and screendimming on certain commands - such as opening the dialog box. I have since then switched back to my older drive and do not have any such problems.
Since I have the original dvd, I've run a repair - no go.
During the cloing, I noticed some of my text didn't match the clonezilla instructions, but since it continued, I didn't worry. The "problems" were with Grub - none found; the other - I don't remember.. Chost? again - not found.
So I'm wondering if those are related to the Windows issues? or does someone know how i can manually fix this? I'm assuming if i plug the 250gb drive into another port, i can manually access files...?
Note that I already tried the cloning twice..I deleted the partitions (system and regular) between sessions.

Grub is nothing to do with your OS if you only have MS Windows on the system, and does not use grub to be the boot loader management.
MS Windows should think your newer SSD is a new device. If this is the case, maybe you can try to install sysprep before taking an image or cloning it.
