Hi,
I have successfully used clonezilla for a couple of years now but recently tried to clone a new laptop which appeared to save the image okay and restore the image okay. When booted this machine throws an Lsass.exe error. The annoying thing is I have seen this before and successfully solved it but I have hit a brickwall with it this time around. Anyone seen this message when cloning XP? Other images of xp based laptops restore okay.
Andy

Andy,
If all the files are restored to your disk, and you can mount the partition to read the data, then I think this problem is nothing to do with clonezilla. Please make sure there is no problem on your windows on your source machine.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
Sorry I am sure Clonezilla is not at fault here I should have made that clear in my last post.
I just wondered if anyone had come across errors of this kind before, the source behaves fine and I am able to log in as normal, I have installed windows afresh on two different laptops twice. I have cloned and restored them around 5 times each time with the same resulting Lsass.exe error. I noticed chntpw runs at the end of the restore is this usual?

Okay, I replaced the system hive and booted into the cloned system. When booting from a live cd it was marked as an unclean ntfs partition from an improper shutdown. I will post again if this solves it.

If you do not check "-hn0 PC" or "-hn1 PC" when you restore an image, chntpw won't be run after the image is cloned.
Thanks Steven. That was it.
