Im cloning a 50 GB NTFS partition on a 60 GB disk to a 50GB NTFS partition on a 200GB disk. How will i know if Clonezilla has hanged? Right now, my screen says "ntfsclone v1.13.1 (libntfs 9:0:0)" with a flashing underscore on the next line. Is it waiting for me to input something?

I should add that it has been there for about two hours now.

Something went wrong. Are you using multicast clone ?
If so, in the server, run:
      ps -ef |grep udp-sender
to see if any problem is running.
You can also turn on "verbose messages" and "-nogui" when you start clonezilla. It would be easier for you to debug.

I was running a device-device, local partition to local partition clone.

I checked -nogui and -v for nogui and verbose mode

There were no errors that I could see.

      And same behavior.

I don't know if it matters, but I'm using two SATA drives connected to a Nvidia Nforce 680 MCP. The BIOS is set to SATA mode. My Clonezilla version is 1.0.5.8

I would suggest that you can try the latest Clonezilla live, which comes with newer kernel. Or even the experimental ubuntu-based clonezilla live (kernel is 2.6.24):
        http://clonezilla.sourceforge.net/download/nchc/experimental/

I tried both the latest released version and the experimental, and neither worked. It still hangs at the ntfsclone portion.

I should add that Clonezilla has worked before on this set up, with the exception of the source and target hard drives. I was doing a device-device, local disk to local disk clone on a Western Digital Raptor and a Seagate hard drive. The only difference that I can tell is that I'm using a Western Digital Scorpio laptop drive and Hitachi Travelstar laptop drive.
