    Hello!

    I tried to backup the local cciss-Raid to an external harddisk.
    Booting or selcting the external USB-HD was no problem, even the firebchannel-card and the RAID were recognized.

    But in the "Choose local disk" only the /dev/sda - /dev/sdz harddisk appear,
    not a single /dev/cciss/c0d0pX-Disk or the other fiberechannel-disks (sdaa-sdaj) where listed.

    I tried to manuelly link the devices:
    "sudo /opt/drlb/sbin/create-cciss-mapping /dev/hda"
    The device is then sucsessfully linkted to /dev:
    "c0d0 -> /dev/cciss/c0d0"
    "1 -> /dev/cciss/c0d0p1"
    "2 -> /dev/cciss/c0d0p2"
    "3 -> /dev/cciss/c0d0p3"
    but the "Choose local disk"-dialoge does not change.

    How could I bring the dialoge to show me all disks, or is there a way to write the source-device Name manuelly ( /dev/cciss/c0d0 )?

    Sincerely
    Ralph

        Ralph,
        You do not have to manually run /opt/drbl/sbin/create-cciss-mapping. Just boot clonezilla live, and when it asks for the disk you want to save, the mapping will be done automatically.
        You can switch to 2nd console by "ctrl-alt-F2", and run:
        ls -alFh /dev/sd*
        and you will see which one is a linked device to cciss device.
        Then you can press "ctrl-alt-F1" to continue clonezilla.

        Lef me know if you have problem there.

        Steven.

          Hello Steven,
          thanks for that answer, I have dried that allready.

          The Problem is the linked device is not listed, because the "display" is limmted to sda-sdz.

          The linked device name is: /dev/c0d0, and /dev/1-3 for the partions and even the other Harddisks sdaa-sdaj wher not shown.

          Ralph

      Thats my external usb-hd, its not a floppy, but it works.
      brw-rw---- 1 root floppy 65, 32 2009-04-09 15:14 /dev/sds
      brw-rw---- 1 root floppy 65, 33 2009-04-09 15:14 /dev/sds1
      The external-cdrom:
      lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root           4 2009-04-09 15:14 /dev/cdrom -> scd0
      lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root           4 2009-04-09 15:14 /dev/cdrw -> scd0
      lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root           4 2009-04-09 15:14 /dev/dvd -> scd0

      And finally the wanted RAID-Harddisk
      lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root          17 2009-04-09 15:16 /dev/1 -> /dev/cciss/c0d0p1
      lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root          17 2009-04-09 15:16 /dev/2 -> /dev/cciss/c0d0p2
      lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root          17 2009-04-09 15:16 /dev/3 -> /dev/cciss/c0d0p3
      lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root          15 2009-04-09 15:16 /dev/c0d0 -> /dev/cciss/c0d0

      I think the problem is, that only sda-sdz where listet in under "Choose local disk".

      Thanks for your ideas.
      Ralph

        Ralph,
        That's weird... you have sda to sdz ?
        Are you running Clonezilla live or Clonezilla SE ?

        Steven.

      Steven,
      thats normal if you clone a server which is attached to a SAN with a fiberchanellcard.
      I run clonezilla Live from the CD.

      Ralph.

      So its true that Clonezilla live only supportes  the first 26 SCSI-Disk sda-sdz ?

        So far I think so, but it won't be a big issue to extend more.

    I am using clonezilla-live-1.2.6-40-i686, and although this is an older post, currently it is 11-26-2010 and I am having this exact same problem, I can't see the internal disks in order to savedisk. and the are cciss.

    So you mean you have more than 26 hard drives?

    Steven.

    Yes, this system is SAN attached and has even more than that.  As far as OS disks I have only 1 LUN (on a hardware raid cciss partition). The SAN disks are not my concern, but they are taking up the 26 slots.  I think from another post that my best option is to run partclone manually from command line.   I am looking to find documentation on how to run that.

    OK.
    For how to run partclone manually, you can check this: http://partclone.org/usage.php
    Or run:
    partclone.$fs -help,
    e.g. partclone.ext4 -help

    Steven.
