Once I choose my external drive as the image repository, Clonezilla has me choose a directory for the image to sit on. (The external drive is empty and has nothing on it. How do I get a directory?) Then once I hit tab and done, I choose beginner and only three options come up to save the image. Those three options are:
1. "savedisk Save _local_disk_as_an_image"
2. "saveparts Save_local_partitions_as_an_image"
3. "exit Exit. Enter command line prompt"
Does anyone know how I can get the option to save as "recovery-iso-zip"?

You must first save an image on the image repository, then you can choose the option "recovery-iso-zip". Without any image in the repository, that menu won't be shown:
