I will try to don't seem to dumber. I'm new on Ubuntu that I installed on my MacBook, in dual Boot with my Mac OS X 10.4.11.
I realised that I often crashed my Ubuntu 10.04 and need to re-install all the thing, which takes me some time. I want to clone my /.
I've been told that CloneZilla is easy to use… But up to now, I still don't manage to boot on the CD. I downloaded the .iso file then I put it on a CD and reboot. But rEFIt don't see anything and only offer me to start on my OS X or my Ubuntu. The alt-key doesn't show anything else…
I downloaded two versions… clonezilla-live-1.2.6-20-amd64 and clonezilla-live-1.2.6-20-i486… But it just doesn't work…

"The alt-key doesn't show anything else" -> This is weird… Are you sure the CD you have created is bootable?
Is that possible you can try to boot that on a PC? Did you do a md5sum check about the iso file you have downloaded?
Steven.

Well, I finally by-passed the problem, using a USB card. I burnt the CD on my Mac OS X 10.4, and maybe there was an option to make the CD bootable, I don't know. Have to say I've never paid attention. Thanks to another tuto (in French) about make USB bootable on mac with an .iso file, I managed to start CloneZilla.
Well, I have to say that you must be patient when you launch CloneZilla. When you are on the first screen and when you tape enter, then you have to wait (maybe more than one minute). I don't know if it's normal or if my computer is slow, but I just let people know…
And finally, I managed to create an image of the partition I wanted to save. Well, at least, I guess I managed. Instead of an image, I got a folder. I guess it's normal, too ?

"When you are on the first screen and when you tape enter, then you have to wait (maybe more than one minute)." -> Normally it will only take less than 10 secs, so maybe it's due to hardware detecting causing the issue.
"I got a folder. I guess it's normal" -> Yes. Clonezilla image is a folder, not a file.
"Thanks to another tuto (in French) about make USB bootable on mac with an .iso file" -> Could you please tell us the URL? I do not remember we have such a tutorial for booting Mac with USB…
Thanks.
Steven.
