I'm using Clonezilla 2.2.3-10 (Live amd64) on usb key to save XP SP3 partitions, it is on a sata II disk
I used the tip mentionned in FAQ to allow changing partition order, in fact I restore a partition sda2 to sda3 order, in the same disk.
This partition sda3 is 8 GB big and is empty, the sda2 was 7 GB big.
The sda3 partition was though a 2 GB fat32 partition, which is now in sda2
The partition should be equal or greater than the old one!
Look for the blkdev.list of your old image.
Normally
if you would like alternate the windows partition:
-first make a backup for your important data
-copy your audio and video files to an other disk
-with the 'defragmentation' optimize your OS (in windows XP drive property)
-use 'FDO' Disk Optimizer for NTFS
-test your windows XP
-make a look for the defragmentation display
-resize the partition(s) with 'gparted live' a little
I would resize all the windows partitions sda1 sda2 sda3 not change to a different partition
because of the hidden original recovery windows partition (sda1 or sda2 I think).
