Hello! I'm trying to create an image from an Acer Iconia W5P (http://www.acer.ae/ac/en/AE/content/model/NT.L0SEM.002), but I cannot get it to work. The only way I've been able to boot into anything from USB stick so far is to use Rufus to create the bootable USB stick from the i686-pae stable branch. Secure boot is entirely disabled on the tablet, I made sure of that before I started. (In case it helps, I cannot boot at all into Ubuntu 14.10, either 64-bit or 32-bit.)
The problem is that when Clonezilla boots, the background image loads fine and so does the grub menu, but the grub menu disappears after about 1 second and then the system just sits at the background image. I left it open for about 10 minutes to verify, and nothing at all happened. I managed to get a Clonezilla disc to boot (don't know the version because my predecessor didn't label it)--it throws a black screen with an error "unknown command load video" for about 2 seconds, then the above problem with the grub menu happens.
Any ideas as to what I can do to actually boot into Clonezilla? I'm currently trying to get the newest i686-pae testing release (2.3.1-9), but SourceForge is having issues and keeps resetting my connection so I can't download anything.

I have seen this happen on a brand new system: Supermicro 7049P-TRT, X11DPi-NT motherboard. Booting from a thumbdrive with a Clonezilla live image, I get to the grub menu, then, no matter which option I choose, the grub menu is cleared, the screen is blank except for the background image, and nothing else happens. I've tried with a version of Clonezilla from 2014 and a recent 2018 download of the latest stable version. I have been able to use Clonezilla successfully on several other Supermicro platforms, including the X9DRG-QF and X10SRW-F, and with a Quadro K420 video adapter, but I can't get it to work here, not even in failsafe mode.

Not sure. It seems your hardware has some issues with grub, which is used to deal with the uEFI booting.
Maybe give testing Clonezill alive a try: https://clonezilla.org/downloads.php

This is a UEFI 32-bits system.
So did you try 20141113-utopic or 20141113-vivid amd64 version:

@Ady,
Thanks Ady.
@Vaindil,
For UEFI 32-bits machine, the security boot has to be turn off, then you can try the i386 vivid release.
Steven.

And Vaindil said before:
"Secure boot is entirely disabled on the tablet"
I would add that "fast boot" and all other special boot settings shall be set off.
Since the win8.x tablets are UEFI 32-bits only (no CSM), then the problem is probably either in:
