    Hi,
I am running Ubuntu 18.04LTS on a SSD. I regularly clone the disk with Clonezilla and never had any issue.
Recently I moved my system from a 256GB SSD to a 512SSD in order to run a virtualbox on the SSD. I transfer my system from the 256GB to the 512GB SSD using Clonezilla. There was only one issue which was that the swap partition I had was not properly mounted and used. I reorganised the partitions using GParted. I moved the swap (4GB) to the end of the disk and extended the main partition to use the rest of the disk (bare 1GB unallocated space between the ext4 and swap partitions). I had to edit the fstab file to make the new swap partition recognised and used. The system is running fine. (NB: before any one diverges from my concerns... I know some argue that it is pointless to have Swap with lots of RAM or to run it on a SSD, however I sometimes run out of RAM and the swap becomes handy to prevent the system to stall. When I notice the swap starts to be used, I simply close some program to free some RAM. This question is not about this!)
I wanted to create a new clone of this new system and used Clonezilla. It runs find but when checking the image I got the following message: "partclone fail please check /var/log/partclone.log the image of this partition is broken". The partclone.log does not give much information.
Reading various posts, I thought that there was something wrong with my partitions or system files on the SSD. So I ran GParted Live and checked the SSD. Nothing wrong was found there. So I now suppose that the problem is with the image created rather than the original partitions. Is that right?
The Virtualbox on the SSD is rather large (262GB) could that be the problem?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Rv

" So I now suppose that the problem is with the image created rather than the original partitions. Is that right?" -> If your original partitions have no issues, yes, this problem is only related to the image.
Either you can try to take an image again, or you'd better to check the hardware integrity. Normally it's a good idea to run the memtest to check the RAM.
BTW, please also try the latest stable Clonezilla live if your version is older than that. Maybe some issues related to that have been fixed.
