    Hello,

I'm having strange problems with some servers and the images i took with Clonezilla. We first installed Collax Business server and configured it. Then we took a image and created a .ISO with the Clonezilla Live CD and named it "revision 1". The image was burned onto DVDs and we had no problems restoring it to other servers (with the same hardware of course). We changed some software on the server and created a new image, in the same way we did before and named it "revison 2". Still no problems with that!

But then we had to change one more thing in the serverconfiguration and created one more image (our "revision 3"). There were no errors while creating it and even not while restoring it. But after installing the Image on a server (exact same hardware) it won't boot anymore!

Before showing the GRUB menu we get the error "GRUB: General Protection Fault at 0000:0000" and that's it.

If we first install the revision 1 or 2 image and after that the revision 3 image, it's is working! So I guess anything with grub in the new revision went wrong?!

Please give me all of your ideas or suggestions, I'm already working 2 weeks on that and still have no idea what it is!

Maybe you can check if the files in /boot/grub/ are flawless…
Or you can overwritten all of them by the files in the working image.

I have now checked the grub from a fresh installation and a broken one.
The fresh one have 6 files that I miss in the broken.
    vstafs_stage 1_5
    ufs2_stage 1_5
    stage2-eltorrito
    iso96660_stage1_5
    ffs_stage1_5
    device.map

but the broken has also one file more (dault).
I copied the working grub on usb-stick via rscatux.
bu can´t copy back to the broken one cause I have´nt enough permissions. Can´t change it cause I´m not the owner.
How can get the permissions on rescatux?

Personally I do not have any experience about "rescatux". I believe you can get the answer to your permission issue on rescatux website.

    Steven.
