Hello,

I run/boot Clonezilla live from a CD. Creating an image of my desktop PC with Windows XP, store it to an external device/disk (home/partimage), works perfectly.

Now I like to create an image of a laptop PC with Win XP. The problem here is that Clonezilla doesn't find the external device /disk. Only the "C" drive is mentioned as sda.

External disk via USB (on both PC's).
Laptop = only C drive, no partitions.

Which version of Clonezilla live did you use?
How about give testing Clonezilla live 1.2.6-11, 20100827-lucid or 20100827-maverick a try?

Thanks for the reaction.

I've already used the 1.2.5.17 and the 1.2.6-11- i686. iso. Same results: no external device .

If I could find the 20100827-lucid or 20100827-maverick, I"ll give it a try…, but I can't find none of these specific program. A search by entering keywords, delivers "old " software. A link perhaps… ?
