    Hello everyone,

At the end of December, 2014 I discovered CloneZilla and used it to back up my Linux mint installation. Everything went very smoothly. I backed up the hard drive and then attempted to restore it -- everything worked perfectly.

I now have a new machine that I am trying to restore the CloneZilla back up onto a partition. The odd part here is that CloneZilla does not see the external hard drive when I put it into any of the USB ports on the machine. I should note that GParted is able to see the drive with no problems.

I boot into the software using a thumb drive that has Xboot and both CloneZilla and GParted utilities on the drive. once CloneZilla is booted, I then insert the USB HD into the USB Port, hut CloneZilla doesn't seem to see that it is there.

A colleague of mine told me to check the BIOS to ensure that USB power options were not affected. There are no such options on this new computer.

If anyone out there is able to provide any assistance I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time I hope to hear from someone soon.

    Best,
    Randy

In your case you should make savedisk/restoredisk not saveparts/restoreparts. All important settings will be done.
Look for the blkdev.list in your image. With 'gparted live' you can adapted the partition sizes of the new HDD before.
The partitions should be equal or greater than the old ones.
    Or
you would like added new partition(s) onto the new machine HDD for Linux mint (root and home directory). Use 'gparted live' for the new partition(s).
Then you can make saveparts (old HDD) / restoreparts (new machine HDD).

(It's not possibly to use: savedisk and then restoreparts. Result: No image exist.)

My external SSD has been loaded with clonezilla live 2.7.2-38 per the online docs. It boots fine but fails to discover the drive when selecting the destination drive. Can anyone help. This used to work but now it doesn't.

This is a very old thread. Next time please new a one.
As for your issue, please give testing Clonezilla live 20210610-impish a try:
