I've been using Clonezilla for years now, with great succes.
Just now I've backed up my OS 'partition'.
This is a 256 GB SSD with no partitions. On it is W7 64 bit, and many other programs. Together they make up for 89,2 GB.
But how is it that the image I just made of it the way I've always done, is only 18,3 GB !
Do you think it missed something or is there some incredible compression going on here, or is Clonezilla that smart to skip unnessecary files or something?
In other words: should I try again?
Thanks in advance for your 2 cents!

Have a look for Windows7 Trim command of the different manufactures and commonly in the web.
For comparison only:
A 'Windows 7 Starter' version with Firefox and LibreOffice needs about 15 GB in the Clonzilla Beginner Mode.
According to that your image with 18,3 GB is OK.

In your case make at first
a backup of your important data,
then a windows 7 defragmention:
Start
defrag # in the commandline
etc.
Use clonezilla now.
But defrag wpuldn't do anything to the size, would it? Besides, it's on a SSD so no defrag is necessairy…?
