    Hello,

I am currently in the possession of a computer with Windows Millennium. The computer is old, so I would like to make a backup of all the files the hard drive contains. Since I do not want to copy the whole hard drive, I will be fine with simply backing up the partition.

Now, my current problem is that the computer is old. Because it is old, I think the hard drive will eventually corrupt. Not only that, but I suspect the computer's part, such as motherboard and other hardware, are eventually going to burn out and/or corrupt. Therefore, I would like the ability to place the Windows Millennium partition onto the hard drive of a different computer.

The different computer is new. If I open the computer, I might void the warranty. Therefore, if correct, I am currently incapable of using a disc to disc cloning procedure.

This situation brings me to my question:

How do I clone a partition and store the partition on the drive of another computer?
Could I do this with Ethernet?
If so, how would I do this with Ethernet?

I apologize, but I forgot to mention something, which may be apparent.

If I do clone the partition to another computer via alternative means, would I be able to unload it to that computer?

I'm sure the hardware would be different, but Windows automatically detects drivers and so forth, right?
So, would there be any problem with doing that?

Maybe. However, M$ windows is a black box to me, so I have no idea what it will happen. Backup the data first and then you can just give it a try.

I think you can try clonezilla live, and use device-device -> disk_to_remote_disk.
      Good luck.
