So I run a dual boot, Ubuntu and Windows 7, and I was tired of having to reinstall Windows and deal with the horrible experience of reinstalling everything and arguing with support that my key was in fact a key, so I looked up cloning and decided to try Clonezilla.
I run Ubuntu and Windows on separate hard drives (my bios is set to "Legacy+UEFI") and everything was working smoothly. I used this version of Clonezilla and successfully cloned my Windows 7 install. Deciding to test it now so I didn't find out later it didn't work I moved things around on Windows 7 to know if the restore worked.
Next I booted onto my USB stick and selected "restoredisk Restore_an_image_to_local_disk".
The restoring process started but gave me these errors:
Error 38 when determining sector size! Setting sector size to DIsk device is
home/partimag/Windows-7-Pro.img/sda-gpt.gdisk 512
Disk device is /home/partimag/Windows-7-Pro.img/sda/gpt/gdisk
Warning: OXEE partition doesn't start on sector 1. This can cause problems in some Oses.
Informing the OS of partition changes...done!
The disk and partition in this system is now: (this was blank)
Error: /dev/sda: unrecognised disk label

Partition Table: Unknown
Disk Flags:
Error: /dev/sda: unrecognised disk label
Restoring partition /dev/sda...
Unable to find target partition "sda1"
That was all reported in the terminal. It said at the end it was successful but I knew it wasn't.
I rebooted and my BIOS settings had been altered to Legacy, boot order messed up and everything. It was reporting I needed to put media in to install an OS so I went into BIOS and changed the Boot section to "default". This brought me my grub menu back (Ubuntu works fine) but selecting the Windows entry gave me this:
My question is, can I restore? The only reason I don't want to reinstall Windows now is because it will total my Ubuntu install and that is a long process to set back up.
Thanks for reading!

Could you please give Clonezilla live 20150602-vivid amd64 version a try? http://clonezilla.org/downloads.php
There is a known issue in the present stable Clonezilla live. The issue has been fixed in 20150602-vivid amd64.
If you still have problem, please post it.
Thanks.
Steven.

I have this problem too.
I have a win 8.1 system on my samsung 120Gb ssd. I like to backup this disk, and i get this error message: http://i.imgur.com/Fb9oG8R.jpg
I downloaded Clonezilla live 20150602-vivid amd64 but the error is not changed.
I cannot restore my disk :(

This sounds a bit like a problem I had, though I was not doing dual booting. I had the same error message. None of the recent versions of Clonezilla worked for me in beginner mode. I found that in my system Clonezilla correctly did the GPT partition table but not the protective MBR. I used gdisk (which is on the Clonezilla live USB) to create the protective MBR, then ran Clonezilla in expert mode and basically said "no" to anything that would change the MBR or GPT partition table. This worked for me.

I used the current stable alternative version as well as the current alternative testing version and got the exact same problem.
The problem, however, seems to occur only when trying to restore an image taken from a Windows 8.1 installation. Restoring an image of a Manjaro install on the same HDD worked without any errors.

If so, please let me know how you install your Windows 8.1, from the BIOS layout (uEFI or legacy BIOS), the partition layout, and the way you install it.
Thanks.

I did try to restore it with the same clonezilla version. I did not install Windows 8 myself. It came preinstalled on my Acer Notebook with a five partition layout if I recall correctly. Sadly I did not make any notes on that prior to wiping the HDD. The BIOS Layout was/is uEFI.

OK, I confirmed that this issue can be reproduced on disk-to-disk cloning for non-GNU/Linux OS, e.g. MS Windows.
A fixed version should be released soon.

I have the same Problem! How exactly did you restore the partition table via gdisk?
I tried to apply the same command clonezilla uses: "sgdisk -l ./sda-gpt.gdisk /dev/sda" but got several errors.
