I'm trying to use Clonezilla on a macbook pro. It works ok to a point. I can get as far as the main menu where you pick your graphics mode. Whenever I try to use it, the screen draws wrong. It looks horrible. I can't read it. It's all stripey, like it's been through a digital shredder. I get this phenomenon after I pick my graphics mode.
Is there some special graphics mode I should go for? The ones I can pick don't work. None of them. Clonezilla is about the only bootkey I can make with win7 that'll read the HFS+ partitions on this mac. But the mac hard drive is corrupted. Something isn't happy. The inbuilt repair partition failed (like a clown at a bar mitzvah). plist is broken with it, whatever that means.
I've never fixed a mac before, because of course they aren't meant to break. The PC itself is suggesting a clean reformat and reinstall. I could give diskwarrior a go, but I don't have it. I have Hiren and UBCD, a 500gb HFS partition and USB keys.
If I can't see what clonezilla options are, how can I use it?

Thanks for the reply - I'm not totally sure which version I have to be honest. I made the usb with tuxboot and the most recent distro there was. It's up to date, no question of that.
In the meantime, I've been working around the issue with lion installed on an external drive. I'm able to run disk drill now along with diskwarrior so I'm seeing some data come back.

Ah, not just me then. My workaround was to install a fresh copy on an external partition and boot from that. If you hold alt during boot up, it'll give you the option of booting from your install CD - from here you can point to an install on a blank partition on your external.

Can this be re-opened? I know it's bad karma to revive dead threads, but this is the closest to what I'm seeing. (I didn't see a wiki or anything )I 'm using a PC that has integrated video. Are there some troubleshooting steps that can/should be followed?

Greetings all,

I ran clonezilla in console mode there. Videotest froze. Also, graphics card not recognised. More clues as I find them.
Why does it say grub? None of my DOS commands work.
There's what I'm getting
Did you try the latest Clonezilla live?
i.e. Clonezilla live 1.2.13-5 or 20120702-precise.
Steven.
Hi Steven,
Thanks for the reply - I'm not totally sure which version I have to be honest. I made the usb with tuxboot and the most recent distro there was. It's up to date, no question of that.

Having the exact same issue, latest live cd. Macbook Pro 13 inch 2011 model.

How about Clonezilla live 20120721-quantal?
It comes with Linux kernel 3.5, and might work better.
Steven.
Hi Steven,
You'll notice the OP date has passed some time ago. This thread can be closed, though further testing of clonezilla on macs is in order.
Thx,
Shtanto
Sure. Thanks.
Steven.

So give Clonezilla live 20130226-raring a try. It might help.
