I am trying to backup an 1TB NVMe to a 2TB.
I get an out of space error when creating partition 6 on the destination. I have tried direct to a sata port and in an external usb enclosure. No matter how I do it the destination comes out with all partitions removed. I have tried the stable release of Clonezilla, and the impish (07/01) version.

"backup an 1TB NVMe to a 2TB." -> Did you mean imaging or cloning?
Actually no matter it's imaging or cloning, this should be able to do that. Could you please take some pictures about the steps you have done and the error messages on the screen?
BTW, when you encounter the error, please choose to enter command line prompt, then run:
1. sudo -i
2. df -h
3. ls -l /home/partimag/
Please post the results of 2 & 3.
Thanks.
Steven

Update:
I got Clonezilla to work by picking Expert Mode, and manually creating my partitions.
I'd offer to keep testing, but my gear is now working, so I can't use the same hardware.
I did set up another PC with a 256Gb SATA SSD, using the same partition scheme. But Clonezilla was able to duplicate it using Beginner Mode.

Thanks for working with me, Steven.
I thought that I might have a bad drive, so I got another one, and reran Clonezilla. But got the same results.
I then thought I might not have properly written the ISO out to the USB flash. I burned a DVD to run from. Still having the same problem.
I will try expert mode again. I just ran it in expert mode, but did a bad job of manually creating my partitions, so it failed.
I have attached the data you requested, and a second screen shot of the failed partitioning error.

So is your issue gone? Everything works as you expect? Or?
Steven
I was able to work around the problem by using Expert mode. Automatic partitioning failed.
Thanks for your feedback.
