I get the above error right after the message "Activating the partition into /proc"
I'm running a Intel RAID Matrix setup of RAID 0 and RAID 1 over two drives. The setup is a WinXP 32bit with basic drives. Does Clonezilla work with setup?

If it is supposed to work, here is some more data that I hope can help.
I'm running version 1.2.2-26.
I saw on other threads that you might ask for the /proc/partitions data so it is below:
8 16 312571224 sba
8 0 312570167 sda
8 1 312570136 sda1
7 0 90472 loop0
8 32 625131864 sdc
8 33 625129472 sdc1

One more thing that I thought you might need to know as well, is that I've tried both the clone the full disk as well as the partitions. I've also tried the defaults settings of the drive type search as well as the one that starts with ntfsclone.
I'm not sure what else you would need to know, so please don't be afraid to ask.

Dam. Worst case possible. I just tried Clonezilla live and it has killed the first drive of my RAID set. The strange thing is that it boots of the RAID 1 partition, but fails to boot as well? I hope it hasn't killed the controller...!
The point of running Clonezilla was to backup in case of this sort of thing, not cause it.

Sometimes if the kernel and hardware does not match very well, especially some buggy hardware, such thing might happen. I am not saying it's the buggy hardware there, just some experience.
If it's not the hardware issue, maybe it's only the software on the RAID crashes. If so, you can try to rebuild the RAID, or to install everything from scratch.
It's recommended to back up important data before you do anything with Clonezilla. Just in case.
Steven.

I fortunately did backup my data first, which is good news.
The whole story is as follows:
I tried to clone with the live version but got the same error again. No Input Device. I then tried to reboot to tell you here, but on boot the RAID controller reports that the RAID 0 setup has failed and the RAID 1 setup is in a degraded status. The problem is that WinXP boots from the RAID 1 partition, but it fails to load. At that point I decided to walk away and go to work so that I don't panic an do something that could make things worse.
I'll try and rebuild the RAID array when I get home, but I can't fathom how the cloning software could write to or affect the source media...?
I'm guessing that I have to re-install everything, but I thought that was the whole point of Clonezilla, to negate the need to re-install everything of a total failure...

How about alternative Clonezilla live (ubuntu-based) 20090720-jaunty ? Does that make any difference there ?
