Edit: resolved - must have chosen wrong folder the second time!
Hi,
I have backed up and restored many hard disk images with Clonezilla, usually using the same old CD.
I'm now in the process of moving from a 1TB disk to a 1TB SSD drive. For this purpose I made a backup of the disk, however I got some errors (sorry I did not not them down) and also the external disk made some funny clicking noises. I did try to restore the backup, but the folder was never visible in clonezilla. I can see it on my booted Ubuntu 12.04 copy and I made sure it is all lowercase, all letters, no spaces.
I also downloaded clonezilla-live-2.2.2-37-amd64.iso and tried to restore with this - same result.
Then I bought another external hard disk which is only recognised by the newer clonezilla copy. I made a backup, which failed on the bitmap creation in expert mode, however I assume this is because the file system was not checked. A basic backup of the disk with filesystem check repaired the available block and inode counter and worked with no errors. I can see the directory, but then there is no restore option in the menu?
Can someone help me or point me to command line tools to diagnose this? Are there any known issues with specific ISO images of clonezilla or is there a problem with the size of the image? Here is the file list from the directory:
