First time using this program Ive heard good things. so I burned it and ran it the first time it worked just fine but I chose the wrong type of img to create. Second time I choose the right one but it tells me that there is no partition and I never get to choose the source that I want to clone.

I mistakenly left the img from the last attempt on the hd iam copying to so clonezilla encountered an error because it was full. This is the only out of the ordinary behavior i noticed before it just stopped working.

Could you please describe more info, e.g. what kind of clone job you want to do (disk to disk, partition to partiion, disk to image or image to disk), and let us know the error messages shown on the screen if there are.
Also, if possible, please descripe the steps you have done one by one. It's easier for us to follow and see why you have problem there.

      Steven.

        Well, in
        http://www.clonezilla.org/clonezilla-live/make-live-recovery.php
        the first line say:
"First, you have to use Clonezilla to save the image you want to include in the recovery CD or USB flash drive. You can do it via Clonezilla live or DRBL/Clonezilla server. Once the image is ready, you can create your own recovery CD/USB flash drive by:"

The problem "no disk or partitions image dir is found in /home/partimag" is, there is no image in /home/partimag. Did you save the image first, and does it exists in /home/partimag ?

Herm didnt know I had to. Should I go into the command line to create this just to make sure its there? It seems to me the gui isnt creating this file when iam asking it to. Just a bit about my pc I have a 80g Master drive and a 13g slave both on different ide cables. The slave is on the same ide cable as the dvd drive. Could this cause conflicts? Come to think of it there was a message skipping busy drives or somethign along those lines. Perhaps, loading clonezilla live into ram could avoid this. Actually, I think I tried this but ill give it another try. Maybe booting from a usb and unplugging my dvd would be a work around.
Ill check into it in bios and see if it supports booting from usb.

nope its a no go. This is exactly why linux will be nothing but a poorly supported hobby os. Linux users cant seem to wright instructions to save their life. I could have been playing a game 3 hours ago if someone could have posted the command line or give instruction without massive oversights.

Yea it does say to create an img how would I go about doing this in cz live. Its seems to me that the gui should do this right after I choose the destination drive. Could you point me to a command that would create this for me. Thanks

Thanks so much Steven you have been a real help. I find your composure and patience very refreshing. I only wish I had demonstrated the same maturity.

wow I feel really dumb. Reading through the instructions the reason I couldn't figure it out dawned on me. The img referred to in the first link I posted is the actual backup of the main drive. I assumed it meant a dummy file structure.
So the command to make the recovery disc iso doesn't actually copy any thing but that img and in this case it just packs it up with the appropriate files. Am I understanding this correctly now?
If I could make a humble suggestion for the Faq it would be to add a section about making recovery discs. Its my opinion that the recovery functions are what will draw the majority of users to this program, if they discover the power and possibilities of this type of back up system.

Well the good news is I have an image now but for some odd reason its 6g even when I run in expert mode and exclude the pagefile. I dont get how this can be considering my windows installation is 4g and some change.
can I manually build a recovery cd on 2 discs? Or are there files in the img file that are safe to delete so I can get this thing to come in under 4.7g. The size of a dvd.

So you mean your Windows only takes about 4 GB size disk, but Clonezilla image size is 6 GB ?
        This does not make sense...
"I manually build a recovery cd on 2 discs" -> Sorry, this can not be done due to some of the script and pipe limitation. Maybe we will make it in the future.
"Or are there files in the img file that are safe to delete so I can get this thing to come in under 4.7g." -> It depends... If the files are in your windows, you have to decide that. For the clonezilla live part, actually it will only cover about 100 MB... so there is not too much you can do about it.
I still think you have to find why the image size is larger than the source data... If should be equal or smaller if you choose to compress it when creating the image.

        Steven.
