I know this has been talked about before, but I couldn't find a identical situation...

Two years ago, I had a 250g drive failing, and the only replacement I could find was a 320g. I used Clonezilla to backup & restore to it. I think this resulted in about 250g partitions on the 320g drive. (Right?)

Now, the 320 is failing, but 250g SSDs are affordable, so I'd like to go back down in size. Of course, a simple restore from the 320g to the 250g didn't work. (To be back up & running, I restored to a 500g HD, which has about 250g of unpartitioned space on it after the restore.)

It's a linux system. (My asterix telephone PBX)

Is there any easy way to go from where I am onto a 250g ssd?
