Hello all, first post so excuse any missing details so let me know what you need.
I am having problems getting a W2K Pro install to startup from the clonezilla CD or flashdrive.
I have Windows 2000 Pro SP4 Nobilus 1.5Ghz box that was setup as a server for our company long before I started working here. This "sudo server" has our company database on it so we can all access the information for our job tickets via the intranet. The data is entered on a Dell XP box via Access.
Everything is working fine but the W2K server is locked out due to administrator passwords not being provided by the prior vendor as there was a disagreement with payment between the owner and vendor.
Imagine that...
I have successfully cloned the XP box running access and removed over 50 trojans in the process, that box clone has been successful and is working quite well.
As for the W2K box I am having problems as it will not startup via the clonezilla cd or clonezilla flash drive. But if I pull the hard drive out of the W2K box with the database on it and put in another freshly formatted W2K OS I can start clonezilla on this new drive no problem, so the motherboard is fine, the cd drive is fine and the USB port is fine, (USB devices read fine with the W2k database hard drive as well, so no USB driver corruption)
I need to get a clone of the database hard drive prior to messing around with Hirens to hack the password issue. I have an exact duplicate Nobilus box I could then clone this information on to and also use an exact clone box of the Dell XP access workstation (done). Set up a closed network between these two PC's and then start to hack the passwords with out taking down our job ticket program.
Can I startup off the newly fresh W2K install, slave drive the database drive and then clonezilla just the database drive as a startup volume?
Any ideas why it starts up from the fresh install drive and the not the database drive?
Bare with me as I am self trained IT guy and will appreciate any input I can get.
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
"Any ideas why it starts up from the fresh install drive and the not the database drive?" -> The way Clonezilla live boot should be nothing to do with the OS installed on the hard drive. Unless it hits some bugs.
What was the error messages when you mentioned "As for the W2K box I am having problems as it will not startup via the clonezilla cd or clonezilla flash drive"?
Steven.
