Well I have tried every live usb I have been able to download for every linux distro I know, INCLUDING alturnate for ubuntu.

I just keep getting kernel panics due to my adaptec 3805 raid card.

Not sure why but clonezilla works and performs backups to it/from it with no issues at all.

Why?!

I'm desperate for a working linux desktop environment!

Maybe it's because the linux kernel in Clonezilla live is newer (3.2.x)?
