So, i recently had a dpc violation during a windows (10, x64) update which (japparently) corrupted my os so badly that it would not boot and needed to reinstall windows entirely ... but before I did that, i did as much research into what could be done to clone the disk and so ended up with 3 different cloning softwares: macrium reflect,; acronis trtueimage, and clonezilla which was my favorite option as it was FOSS and minimal...
in the process of trying to figure out and exdcute the drive cloning, i may hae (but am not sure due to a bit of a brain-memory problem due to a tbI) anyways,
i am trying to figure out what will indicate to me a clone which hsa been done with CZ within a normal working windows environment via file browser... Is there afolder structure that i should be able to find, or a file of some sort... im just not sure... Hopefully once I either eliminate or ideintify whether the clone is CZ i can move id'ing the other progs..
another issue i've been having is that when i try to restore/migrate the clone another drive is that i'm not sure exactly which drive is which in CZ... in other words: the step-by-step guide is helpful in some linear fashion, but gives little to no explanation of the terms used within the program...
so im a bit lost as to what a home/ repository / diskimg all means... IS that the clone or the drive that i'm migrating the data to? I assumed that it was the cloned disk because it precedes the other step-wise...
i'm having no issue with cz identifying the drives, and whichi ones are which ... but another really confusing thing to me is that the instructions state cleaerly (and assumes that the "home" drive or repository i i believe is always sdba 1 ,2 ,3 ... , but upon choosing the disk listed as a1 etc, ther ic annot find the image file or directory within the browse menu... im being very careful as this is the only full abckup ive got of the terminal ( and since formatted) original disk... which is 1tb fwiw which is cloned to an 8tb external hard drive which i got for this project.. so: im assuming that it is possible that the various drives can and will have different assignments than the ones in the guide in many cases, hence the need for clarification.. I wass reading that there is some sort of folder stucture that CZ identifies as a marker for a cloned drive, so maybe that has something to do with the selection of the disk assigments... but have no idea as i almost cloned the boot usb to the destination disk... thankfully i hdad anugh sense to hesistate before okaying the final prompts...
what can i do in order to sort this all out (im assuming it's going to be the image>device option based-on the various tutorials ive watched on youtube etc... but i'm unsure of how to proceed knowign so little about the terminology... so if anyone could be so generous as to sort this out before i either lose a drive or my patience and then my emotions.. first and hopefully most desperate post...
one other thing...seeing as the original drive was corrupted, could this flub my chances at creating a bootagble drive? and would fsck sort out this unfortunate possibility? and why is the automatic mode so "dangerous"?
also p.s., ive no prior linux / debian experience...
also want to note that the cloned drive appears to be identical to the original drive structurally...
best,
C

With that, you will have some ideas about how to use Clonezilla.

Did you check those step-by-step docs here?
https://clonezilla.org/clonezilla-live-doc.php
With that, you will have some ideas about how to use Clonezilla.
